Borealis-LE is still triggering after uninstall

• Jun 17, 2025 - 15:19

Hi.

I have uninstalled MuseHub and Musescore for the time being because Borealis-LE wanted a license to use it's free version, and when I tried to uninstall it it still triggered in Musescore as missing a license after every file I opened. I then uninstalled Musescore and Hub and now I'm still getting a trigger in the redundant scan of VSTs in my other notation app.

Is there an end to this? I can't find where the registry is to remove it.

Borealis-Le is just a vst. It might be offered via Muse Hub, but it is not related.

Uninstalling MuseScore nor Muse Hub can't solve this.
To remove, just uninstall it - if there is an uninstaller available - or delete it from (probably ) c:\Program Files\Common Files\vst3\
To remove it from the MuseScore list, delete the Borealis block in
C:\Users\ [your user] \AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore4\known_audio_plugins.json
or just delete this file (will be recreated when restarting MS)

I guess I was hoping for perhaps some insight into how MuseHub structured it's installs, since I got the VST from directly inside MuseHub, and that maybe after uninstalling both the VST from within MuseHub and trying to find it in all the normal places on my computer (of which I couldn't find any trace of) that maybe there was a different folder that someone might know about.
