Guitar Strum Direction

Is there a way to put the strum direction into your score, to specify up-strums and down-strums? The arpeggio options seem to break playback. (Not that playback is super important, it seems to be somewhat broken anyway for the score I'm currently working on. ,'/ ) It would also be nice if the strum direction was above or below the staff rather than on it beside the note, but I doubt that's possible yet anyway.
