Adding a dotted note... Is this the expected behaviour ?
In MU3.x when I want to add a dotted eight-note, I used to
1. press "N" (enter into edit mode)
2. press "4" (for eight note)
3. press "." (for dot augmentation).
Well, in MU4.5.x, when I press the "." it changes the previous note duration and moves to the next one. And it doesn't change the default duration to dotted eight note.
Is this the new 4.5.x expected behaviour ?

I would say no... I can only tell you that it doesn't happen here. It's hard to say what the cause is (OS? Keyboard? ...?)

Well in MU3.7 it is working very well.
And it is the same whether I use the "." from the regular keyboard or the numpad.
So I guess it is neither the OS nor the keyboard...

You could try setting the 'shortcut' in the preferences again. Otherwise, a voodoo ritual might be needed... jokes aside, it seems to be a problem exclusively yours, since I don't see any feedback from other users. It's hard to say what the cause could be.

I found the reason.
This is linked to that new behaviour to have in MU4 the same behaviour for note input as in MU3.6
Anyway, this is still strange and I wonder if that feature has been thoughtfully.

Yes, that's exactly the problem, you hit the nail on the head. If I set the program with the option 'To previous note entered' Musescore behaves as in your animation. The default setting, however, is the other one: just select it and everything goes back to normal. I wonder if you chose the anomalous setting or the program automatically set itself to that.

I set it like that.
Because I'd prefer how it works in MU3.x
In MU3.x, when you press "q" or "w", it changes the previous note duration. So that you can correct the previous note if you used wrong duration. But this doesn't apply to "." !
However, in MU4.5, with the default mode, when you press "q", it doubles the duration of the next notes.
Changing the setting allows to retrieve the behaviour of MU3.6 for "w" and "q".
But it changes also the behaviour of "." in a way that is not the one of MU3.x.
IMO, that new setting is flawed, because it is impossible to change the duration of the next notes to dotted notes with the keyboard. Only with the mouse.

Now everything is clear. I have a feeling that this won't be the only surprise the new version will have in store for you...
Works normally for me in 4.5.2. *shrug* Might be worth your while to perform factory reset?
