Smooth slide, say from middle C to an octave above or below.

Tried using the slide flute and a couple of other instruments but doesn't seem to make a smooth slide. Is there a way to do this and also adjust the speed of the smooth slide? Visualize a person sliding down a playground slide and landing on a bass drum and symbol. Thanks.
