Quarter note triplets

Hi, I was wondering how to insert a quarter note triplet as opposed to an eighth note triplet.

See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/tuplets

The important thing to understand is that you must start with a note or rest of the total duration of the triplet and then divide that note or rest into three equal parts with CTRL+3 (or using the tuplet button in the toolbar). For quarter note triplets you need to start with a half note (or rest) as that is the total duration of the triplet.

By selecting more than one note and then carrying out an action, the action gets done to all the notes which is what you'd expect for most actions - applying a slur, articulations, moving up an octave etc.

You can, though, select multiple notes or rests and then press [Del] and this will combine them into quarter/half/whole notes/rests and then you can press [Ctrl] 3 to turn that new note/rest into a triplet. It won't do dotted notes or more complex durations, though.

There's a plugin - https://musescore.org/en/project/advanced-tuplets - that might do what you want, although it might be overkill for simple triplets.
