Score Invalid!

• Jul 14, 2023 - 20:45

Please help!!!! I was working on a score that I just started, which I hadn't saved yet, and then I clicked to upload it to the cloud (score manager). It said it uploaded, but it doesn't show up in the score manager on the musescore website! And then, when I clicked on the musescore app to open it up again, a little box shows up, saying "Score is Invalid". It won't let me open the score at all!! I haven't done anything which I hadn't done to my other scores with this one, so I have no idea what is going on! And I know the score isn't corrupted, because it would've told me earlier, and it's a pretty simple score. PLEASE HELP I AM AT MY WITS END.

I’ve had this issue the whole day. I’ve started working on a score yesterday, and then today I lost all my progress. So I restarted all over again and when I finished for the day I was gonna save it but it crashed, when I tried getting back in the score it said, “Your score could not be opened… This score is invalid”

i had the same issue and what worked for me was looking in my musescore appdata folder and going to AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore4\cloud_scores where i found my lost score's musescore file. i couldn't open it with the musescore application but i was able to upload it to the musescore site and then redownload it!

Some extra steps...

  1. Go to Application Support/Musescore/cloud_scores (I can't exactly remember what it was)
  2. Take the score and put it into Scores in Musescore in Finder.
  3. Open the score in Finder. It should now be viewable and, more importantly, saveable.
  4. If it is, SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! SAVE!

I can't stress how important saving to computer is. Never Save To The Cloud!

Hey there! You need to save on your computer in order to open the file again that you were making on your score. For some reason it won't save it on Musescore itself like you kind have to double save it on the computer itself and musescore.

TO THOSE ON MAC!!

  1. Open Finder:
Open the Finder application on your Mac.

  2. Go to the Library Folder:
While holding down the "Option" key, click on the "Go" menu in the top menu bar. This will reveal the "Library" option.

  3. Navigate to MuseScore Data:
In the Library folder, look for the "Application Support" folder. Inside it, you might find a folder related to MuseScore or MuseScore4.

  4. Click on the MuseScore folder

  5. Inside of it go to "cloud_scores"

I found my score in it but it was titled "not_uploaded" and when I opened it it was still showing up as invalid. Fortunately, I saved an mp3 file of it and thats it. Hope you can find your lost score as well!
