I'm very sorry to make another file corruption post, but I don't know what to do. I saw the master-post about what to do with a corrupted file, but I don't understand how to do the stuff it wants me to do. The part that pertains to me is this:
"If MuseScore 4 cannot open it, use WinZIP or 7Zip or something alike to open the mscz file (which really is a ZIP archive in disguise), extract the mscx and open that with MuseScore 3.6.2. You can also extract the score_style.mss and use Mu3's Format > Load Style on it. In either case ignore the warning reg. them being from a newer version of MuseScore. You may want a Ctrl+A,Ctrl+R after that to reset everything to their defaults"
since my file will not open. My problem is that I downloaded WinZIP but I just don't get how to use it to extract the mscx from the mscz file. I tried to Google it but everything concerning mscz file conversion says to just use Musescore to do it (ie just save it as a different file type) which doesn't work because the file won't open to begin with. Is it possible for someone to give me step-by-step instructions on how to use WinZIP to extract the mscx file? I'm very sorry if this is a dumb post, I tried my hardest to just Google it myself but nothing was giving me what I needed :(((
WinZip may require a file with a ".zip" extension. Delete the "mscz" and replace with "zip".
So, "MyScore.mscz" will become "MyScore.zip" which WinZip should be able to unzip after which the .mscx file can be accessed.
If that doesn't work, attach the score.
