Dynamics shortcuts not working?

(Re MS ver. 4.0.1.230121751)

Hi everyone,

The MS 4 handbook says (I'll have to resort to a screenshot here for the table):

MS_dynamics_shortcuts.png

None of these are working for me on selected notes... An oversight, or am I doing something wrong?

And BTW, is there any way to prevent the forum from making our inserted images so extra-large? 😐 I don't quite understand the need for that. Thanks!

I think you can only edit an existing dynamic as there doesn't appear to be a shortcut for Add >Text >Dynamic. As to image size, I just copied your image and shrank it 65% size then again to a smaller (but unreadable) size. i used Kolourpaint in ubuntu but other image programs are available:

Hi underquark:

You're right—if you open Preferences > Shortcuts and search for "dynamic" (without quotes), no shortcuts appear! These work only when editing existing shortcuts—which seems rather silly, doesn't it, as it's just as easy to type "p" or "f" as it is to execute a three-key keyboard shortcut? (Maybe someone was being a bit too efficient on this one—LOL)

And indeed, I've begun reducing my images here before posting them. It probably has something to do with the fact that I take screenshots from an ultra-HD display, causing them to appear extra-large when rendered on webpages (but the beautiful paper-like appearance it gives notation is worth the trouble, IMHO). Cheers!

Just getting back to this again (maybe I'm working a bit too hard?—LOL)...

I've now realized you can select a note, press Ctrl+D (for Dynamics), and a clickable pop-up menu of dynamics symbols appears. So that's somewhat easier than having to go back and forth with the palette each time.

Still, this is a way common enough function that shortcut keys should at least be assignable natively, don't you think? Cheers!
