Disable musesounds?
So I downloaded all the new muse sounds for musescore 4. And for some reason, the sounds seem a bit much for my sound card. Maybe? That might be it? In any case, is there a way to disable those new sounds until I figure out what the problem is?

I think the following will work:
1) open mixer (F10)
2) in mixer panel click on the 3 dots in the right corner above
3) choose "playback setup"
4) click on "Musescore Basic"
5) click on "activate this profile"
6) mark "set as default for new scores"
7) click "OK"

That works for the piece I have selected at the time. I would like to disable them permanently. They are disappointingly weak. They're pretty, but very weak and hard to work with. I am using a Macbook Air.

Maybe these settings will affect the current score and new scores only so you might need to revisit other old scores to set them to basic.
In general the new sound engine of MuseScore 4 requires more of your CPU and Memory than the sound engine of MuseScore 3.
When this is too much for your PC, maybe it's better to use MuseScore 3 until the programmers have made MuseScore 4 sound engine to use CPU and Memory more efficient.............
Does your PC meet the minimum spec?
Have you tried increasing the buffer size to 4096?
Have you checked that the sample rate is less than 48K?
