Moving files from Windows to MacOS X

• Oct 15, 2012 - 20:15

I have created a large number of files in MuseScore 1.2 for Windows. Which is the easiest way for me to make sure that students using older versions on MacOS X can open these files? I have tried exporting them as XML files, but the layout of the documents changes so that if I write any text, it moves around randomly.

Best regards,

I only use Windows nowadays but the file format for MuseScore is the same from 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2, so shouldn't the files from a Windows machine simply open on the Mac?

Yes, that's what I thought too, but I've heard from two people who couldn't open files. Or rather, it seems to be possible to open the file, but it only renders a blank page.
What makes things a bit complicated for me is that I don't (yet) have a Mac of my own. This should however be fixed within the next week or so.

Is there a reason for your students not to upgrade to the last MuseScore version? It is free, rather short to download and relatively simple to install...

This would take a variable out of the question.
