sForzato et al
First I gather that the sForzato mark does not affect playback (yet?). Not a problem but leads to a question about velocities and the "time stretch" value.
First, being fairly new to this, can I confirm my understanding that if I add say 16 into the velocity with it set as off set, it would in effect raise 'mf' (80) to 'f' (96). If at some later time I was to change the dynamic earlier to 'f' would the 16 still be added to give 'ff' (112). I realise it must do this but I just want to be sure.
Second, what IS the time stretch value? I can't seem to find anything about it other than some stuff about problems. Nothing exactly describing its function. Does it temporarily change tempo?

Sforzato *does* affect playback in 2.0 and later, except for scores originally created in older versions. But to answer your question, yes, and offset of 16 or whatever will be added to the velocity for the current dynamic, so it changes as expected.
Time stretch is for fermata, to say how much love nger than usual the note should be held. Eg, a time stretch of 2.0 means hold the note twice as long as notated.

Many thanks. I wondered how fermata did or did not work and you have answered that. I must say I had not noticed the sForzato working. What velocity does it add?

Sforzato multiples the velocity by 120%. Again, though, only since 2.0, and only in scores that were originally created in 2.0 or later (at least that's my impression).

Tthis comes from instruments.xml and gets embeded into the score at its creation. These 120% were in that file in 1.3 already.
