This issue occurs in the newly released MuseScore 4.0. Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new score using an Electric Guitar staff.
2. Ensure that MS Basic is being used in the Mixer.
3. Write a melody using syncopation with ties.
4. From the Text palette, use "Distort," "Overdrive," or "Jazz Tone" to change the sound of the instrument.
On playback, you should notice that the ties seem to be ignored when using the text, but not when using the normal Electric Guitar sound. This is especially disruptive when notes are tied across multiple bars, because there is no workaround in that case.

Comments

Frequency Once Few

I came to report the same issue and can confirm; adding distort, overdrive or jazz text will interfere with tie playback. Harmonics text works with ties as it should.

Having the same problem. Some text that changes the sound played (i.e. distortion, jazz tone, muted, etc.) ignores all ties for that instrument and articulates both notes in the tie.
